The Alabama Department of Conservation has initiated an "Alabama Rivers Discovery Expedition" which intends to raise public awareness of our state's rivers and streams. Greg Lein of State Lands Division and Jerry DeBin of I&E Division are major organizers of this event running from October 2001 to September 2002. The object is to organize long-range canoe-kayak floats in contiguous river sections throughout the state. Many floats are on local rivers and may exceed 100+ miles!
