Club Party

Paddlers in the Mobile / Pensacola Bay region are invited to attend a potluck picnic on Fish River near the home of Frank Laraway on Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Please verify by phone (251) 945-5504. Bring whatever dish and drinks that you wish, along with eating utensils, grills, etc. All hot dishes should come prepared and cooked. Some lawnchairs and tables will be at the site. Bring repellents.

The activities may include swimming, kayaking (small boats best) and possibly volleyball on the river. The river here is relatively shallow (like upper Styx River) and sandy with stobs and log jams. It is free of jams above and below the site for about 1000 feet.

Blueberries will be ripe - bring a container if you wish to pick them. Small blueberry plants as well as other small plants such as loquat or fig may be had for the taking if you bring your own containers.

The picnic will be postponed if the day is threatened by rain or infestations of biting insects. Recheck the website or check by phone (945-5504) at the last minute if the weather looks bad.
