August Club Meeting Presentation
Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 7:00 PM

Presenter: Hank BurchNatural - Resource Planner
AL Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources, State Lands Division -Coastal Section

The State Lands Division of the Alabama Dept of Conservation &Natural Resources Division is in the process of developing a Mobile Tensaw Delta Coastal Resource Center on the Causeway across from Meaher Park. This will include a canoe and kayak launch area and will be extending the Bartram trail network down through the southern delta, so this facility becomes a terminus for the larger trail system. Mr. Burch will be speaking on this fantastic facility, giving us a 'virtual tour', due to open in Sept/Oct, and will be talking about a Pass the Paddle promotion they are putting together with the statewide Clean Water Partnership. He will be interested in MBCKC's feedback on particular areas of interest to paddle in the Lower Delta. They are requesting and will be hoping to coordinate the opening of the Resource Center with MBCKC members involved at the grand opening. This will be a wonderful presentation and afford us, as a club, a new avenue of 'put-in' and education. Plan to attend this informative meeting on August 1.
